About YourTimeline
A visual workspace for explaining time
YourTimeline is an independent web project launched on 1 June 2026. Its purpose is to make chronological thinking easier to build, inspect, and share without requiring specialist design software.
Why the project exists
Lists are useful, but they often hide duration, overlap, distance, and causality. YourTimeline was created to let a reader move between a broad period and a precise event while keeping those relationships visible.
The product is designed for students, teachers, researchers, families, professionals, and curious readers. The same editor can support a compact resume, a project roadmap, a country history, or a comparison between opposing interpretations.
What YourTimeline publishes
YourTimeline publishes a set of curated showcase timelines that demonstrate the editor. These pages are written and arranged for the product, with introductions, event descriptions, and a documented visual purpose. They are examples, not exhaustive academic references.
Public community timelines are user-generated. Their author is identified on the page, remains responsible for accuracy and rights, and can receive comments or reports. Public does not mean endorsed by YourTimeline.
Editorial and correction principles
Showcase material is reviewed for chronological consistency, readable wording, duplicate events, and a useful balance between context and detail. Important factual work should still cite and verify primary or authoritative sources.
Corrections, rights concerns, security reports, and requests concerning unlawful content can be submitted through Contact and suggestions. Reports are reviewed according to the published moderation and compliance rules.
Funding and product independence
The core timeline editor is offered without a paid subscription. Voluntary Ko-fi support can help with hosting, testing, security, and continued development. If advertising is introduced, it must remain clearly separated from editorial and user content and must not appear on private, empty, or navigation-only screens.
Product changes are recorded through the community area and legal documents are updated when a feature changes how data, content, or third-party services are handled.
