How to read this timeline
Energy history and climate history overlap but are not the same story. Coal, oil, nuclear power, solar, and wind belong to systems shaped by infrastructure, price, policy, geography, and demand. Climate measurements and international agreements form another sequence that changes how those systems are understood and governed.
Putting both sequences on one axis makes delays visible. Scientific observations can precede broad political action, and an agreement can precede physical changes in generation or emissions. The selected milestones are orientation points for a complex global transition, not a complete account of regional responsibility, adaptation, biodiversity, or climate justice.
